MORE FLORIDA NEWS

• This month we CELEBRATE the hiring of a new part time Coordinator for the Ft. Myers area, Mr. Otto Parisho. Otto moved to SW Florida from Indiana with his wife upon retirement. Otto is a Master Gardner and has close connections with the County Extension Office, farmers, packing houses and is a regular volunteer at the local Farmer’s Market. We are very excited to welcome Otto on board with Florida SoSA and look forward to growing the SW Florida gleaning program in the coming years, beginning this Fall!
• In July we will be attending the Mango-Mania Festival where we hope to network and connect with Mango Grove Owners and other growers. In August SoSA is attending the Taste of Lee exhibition in Ft. Myers.
• In Orlando we are working with St. Lukes UMC summer youth program to create friendship bags to distribute to area soup kitchens and food pantries.
• SoSA is participating in Project Homeless Connect which is an all day, non-stop event to offer services to people in need.
• With July being National Food Share month the city of Orlando has a banner hanging in the middle of downtown, we hope it keeps people alert of the hunger issue.
