God's Word For The Spirit
The Society of St. Andrew
began in 1979 as an intentional community called together in Christ.
The founders sought to live a lifestyle that honored God while serving
others. A major component of the ministry since its beginning
has been to provide spiritual nourishment to others through God's
Word.
We find our mandate for
Gleaning America's Fields ~ Feeding America's Hungry in scripture.
But just as important as feeding hungry bodies is the need to feed hungry
souls.
As recorded in 2
Timothy 3:16-17:
All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is
true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It straightens
us out and teaches us to do what is right. It is God’s way of
preparing us in every way, fully equipped for every good thing God
wants us to do. (NLT)
Throughout the scriptures
God makes clear that those who have been blessed with plenty should
share their abundance with those who do not have enough. We
believe that if the people of God who today make up the church take
seriously God's commands and truly follow Jesus' example, no one in any neighborhood of America would
ever experience hunger. That is why we seek to educate others
about hunger and poverty while reminding them of the Biblical
imperative to feed the hungry.
The Society of St. Andrew
offers a Bible study on hunger that Sunday school classes and
small groups are invited to use.

The Society of St. Andrew
offers devotional and giving programs during Advent and
Lent
that congregations and individuals are invited to use.
We also offer a
Vacation
Bible School mission project each year to teach young people about
hunger in America
and how Jesus expects his followers to do something
about it.
Our
Harvest of Hope
program includes a vibrant spiritual growth component and worship is
an important part of each day of Harvest of Hope.
